One of the best surprises that one can come across is a nice and cozy restaurant tucked in a village, as if in secret, waiting to be stumbled upon by a girl who loves to eat (that’s me!)
That’s why I was ultimately delighted when I finally set foot on 14 Four Cafe, a restaurant slash cafe slash furniture showroom in Taytay, Rizal. My friend learned about the resto a couple of years ago but it was only recently that I saw it for myself. The owner, Niki Sambile, surely did a great job in putting up this restaurant in their house which also serves as a showcase of her dad’s furniture designs at Sticks Showroom.
I placed a reservation almost two weeks in advance and was really excited to try out their menu, but more than that, to see what lures people into visiting 14 Four Cafe. Check out these lovely photos (not just because I’m in most of them heee) of the dining areas:
The indoor dining area is small but intimate, with mismatched pieces of plush furniture and quirky stuff on the walls. There’s music played while you enjoy your food, though for some reason I found it weird that they were playing RnB songs, it kinda didn’t match the ambience.
While waiting for our food, we took advantage of the spacious and vacant outdoor area for some photo ops, since it was a little too early and most of the guests were inside. There are colorful wooden and cushioned benches, chairs, and long tables, perfect for bigger groups who can dine and feel as if they’re in the comforts of their own garden. It kind of reminded me of Rustic Mornings.
More guests started to pour in as evening came, and the aroma of freshly cooked food wafted in the air together with the lively chatter of the diners. More snapshots of the place where taken because it was even lovelier, with all the lights turned on.
Now let’s go to the food. We ordered an appetizer, a pasta dish, a panini, a dessert, and a carafe of iced tea. These were all good for sharing and were served in about fifteen minutes.
The food was okay, the dessert was unforgettable, and the place was adorable. 14 Four Cafe is like a diamond in the rough.
